Description about design - "Aroha" in Maori means "Love"
This design represents the love of a family unit. There are 3 symbolic Koru in this design representing the father as the guardian, protecting his wife and child
Koru is a word that is synonymous with New Zealand Maori culture, all you have to do is take a look at the Air New Zealand tail and you'll see a "Koru" proudly flying and even Air New Zealand's premium travel lounges are proudly called "Koru Lounges"
The "Koru" is a Maori symbol that represents a "Punga Tree" fern unfolding as a new leaf. The meaning represents new life, a new beginning, re-growth, peace and tranquility, the "Koru" reaches for the light, striving for perfection, encouraging new positive beginnings.....
This traditional motif, was for thousands of years used on "Waka's" or traditional canoes that sailed the South Pacific and Polynesian waters.
Today many New Zealanders use the "Koru" as a symbol that represents being a New Zealander, many kiwi's have "Koru" tattoo's on their bodies or you may see bone or jade carvings of the "Koru" symbol.
Today we have taken this truly New Zealand symbol of culture and created contemporary recycled mats to be used in both an indoor or outdoor environment.
Care Instructions - All our floor mats have been made to the best attainable standards from UV treated recycled polypropylene. We make no assertions on the longevity of the product as there are too many variables including care, exposure to continuous direct sunlight, contact with abrasive cleaners etc
Please also note that although these floor and play mats are wonderful to use outside, we do not suggest that are left outside in direct and permanent sun and rain full time due to high UV exposure
FYI - More information can be found on how and where our mats are made under the FAQ’s section
